a selection of sketchbook entries and works on paper from over 100 visual considerations done over the course of 6 months of a cherished pair of cheap, blue haircutting scissors I purchased at a pharmacy in my adolescence.
beginning as a ritualistic approach to honoring the inanimate "everyday" objects that accompany me in life, ended with the belief that through the practice of a conscious act of devotion, a deep respect for the instruments, and things unseen, that ultimately sum up to define our identity.

working exclusively in small, portable sketchbooks with the same small set of drawing tools, these pages offer vulnerable and intimate drawings and words documented throughout a year in recovery settings. it is an artifact that proves the possibility of recovery and hopefully promotes the importance of resilience in ones creative practice, especially in times where life is uncertain.
